Sefton Samuels

“The photographic equivalent of Ken Loach”

The Guardian

Sefton Samuels is one of Manchester’s leading photographers.

His career spans more than four decades - with nearly a hundred images held in the National Portrait Gallery and Victoria & Albert Museum. Sefton has had solo exhibitions at the Barbican Centre and Proud Gallery in central London.

Sefton was described by acclaimed painter LS Lowry as being his favourite photographer. His photos hang in the homes of musical legends Paul Weller and The Stone Roses’ John Squire.

Before turning to photography Sefton worked in mills across the North West and as a professional jazz drummer.

He is a fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and still lives in Manchester, England.
